Direction of the Atlanta Chinese Lantern Festival is toward starting a national dialogue between the People of US and PR China. The dialogue’s purpose is to educate the People to understand and appreciate one another as friendly, global neighbors. As such, friendly and global, these neighbors may easily foster exchanges between one another for mutual benefits. Mutual and harmonious benefits are the direct goals of both governments at all levels. The quintessential purpose of nations is jobs for citizens through education, investment, trade, tourism, and economic development.
Chinese Lanterns starting in 208 BC and gothic churches, 1400 AD, are teaching tools. They illustrate through art a region or nation’s most important cultural knowledge. Both instill essential cultural facts about events, myth, philosophy, beliefs, history, places, and things. The lanterns are temporary and change, while the cathedrals are permanent and unchanging. One is built in weeks and is temporary; the other built over centuries is permanent. Both utilize size and scale, light and color, to free learning of its occasional stress and strains.
